We are very fortunate to be joined for our three-day conference by Ensemble Rumorum. Directed by Grace Newcombe, the three young musicians are based at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and will give us a soundbite of the possible soundworld of 13th-century Brixen.
In addition to their participation at the conference, Rumorum will perform a selection of songs from (and related to) the Codex Buranus on Friday, 27 July, 20:00. The musicians will lead their audience through the concert with insightful commentary, unlocking this fascinating repertoire for the general public as well as offering the opportunity to explore in practice some of the historical and historiographical ideas discussed at the conference. The magnificent courtyard of Brixen’s Hofburg provides the ideal backdrop for what promises to be a memorable occasion.
Thanks to the generosity of the Stadtgemeinde Brixen, the concert is free of charge.
